Hello! My name is Hugh Patrick Greene. I am an Electrician by trade but have switched recently to a full career as an Indie software developer of games and apps.
My experience includes Computer technician of Mac and PC computers, and a working knowledge of programming in Basic, Visual Basic, Visual C++, Machine Language, Pascal and graphic design. I have always been interested in Computers and programming through out my youthful days being kept in touch with the latest tech and self-teaching myself the various programming languages as best as I could. My first computer was a Commodore 64 where I created two games in Basic named '52 Pickups' and a plat-former which i never got to finish. I had also acquired a Commodore Amiga and continued to know everything about them. As time progressed when the Commodore company went out of business, I decided to switch my focus to the PC and Windows Os. It was also through that period, a friend introduced me to Linux. Since then after being introduced to the Linux platform, my fascination and admiration grew and it continues to grow as I learned more of it. Being in a society where it is predominately Windows and Mac can be a bit intimidating; especially when one want to develop software and the Software development tools one has at their disposal, caters to Windows or Mac. With the Introduction of Mark Overmars Gamemaker, I opted to develop for the Windows platform. When YOYO acquired it and over time and promised a Linux plugin, I was happy. However the unstableness of Windows continued to plague me. My introduction to ENIGMA IDE was an answer to a lifelong prayer. Finally I can create my apps in a stable environment for my favorite platform, Linux. The added bonus of it being compatible with the Gamemaker language structure was even better than I could even imagine. With some tweaking and various changes, all my projects could be converted and run on Linux. This blog is to promote Linux software and the ENIGMA IDE development software. Tutorials and games will be found here. If you have any questions, I will try my best to answer you back as quickly as possible. Just give me a little time and please bear with me a little. i don't pretend to know everything, but I am willing to help as best as I can. |
